Emotional freedom techniques

This form of energy healing works on the premise that every negative emotion results in a disruption of the body’s energy system. Traumatic experiences and stressful issues give rise to negative emotional responses which become locked into our energy field and remain connected to the memory of these events.

Tapping on the acupressure points/energy meridians whilst focusing on the negative emotions weakens their intensity and ultimately clears them from our energy field. This helps restore and heal the body’s energy system. The amygdala, situated in the limbic system of the brain, responds to stressful stimuli by signalling the brain to mobilise the Flight/Fight/Freeze response. Traumatic events from the past as well as prolonged stress can continue to activate the amygdala into signalling this survival response, setting the stage for emotional imbalances in the present.

EFT has been clinically proven to be an effective therapeutic tool. In addition, brain scans have shown that tapping/EFT has a calming effect on the amygdala which in turn de-activates the Flight/Fight/Freeze response in the body. This in turn reduces the level of adrenalin and cortisol in the body and the associated emotional responses. In this way EFT is able to release us from the effects of past traumatic events as well as negative emotions arising in our present situation. This is a new paradigm in healing. It no longer needs to take months or years of therapy and chronic medications to resolve even deep rooted problems.

EFT can be used to create change in any area of your life that is not working well. All physical pain and illness has an emotional component. While tapping on the pain, any underlying feelings of anger, resentment, guilt, shame and frustration that may be connected to the illness can surface and be released.

As these feelings and emotions are tapped on many people find their pain diminishes and even disappears entirely.

EFT works with both the conscious and sub-conscious minds enabling us to make changes to damaging or self-sabotaging attitudes and beliefs that we may not even be aware of. By releasing these sub-conscious beliefs that may be sabotaging our best efforts to be happy, healthy and successful, we allow real healing to happen.
